Combined Insurance Recognized as Nation’s Number One Military Friendly® Employer
Ranking Marks Second Consecutive Year as Top Military Friendly® Employer by G.I. Jobs Magazine

GLENVIEW, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the second consecutive year, Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accidentdisability, health, and life insurance products, and an ACE Group company, was recognized this week as the nation’s number one Military Friendly Employer for 2016 by Victory Media’s G.I. Jobs Magazine. This is the fifth consecutive year that the company has made the list, the fourth time in the top 10, and the second time as number one.

Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs Magazine, is a service-disabled, veteran-owned business serving the military community. The firm launched the Top 100 Military Friendly Employers list over a decade ago. Selection criteria includes: the strength of a company’s military recruiting efforts; the percentage of new hires with prior military service; retention efforts; onboarding and training; and the company’s policies toward National Guard and Reserve service. Only the top two percent of more than 5,000 eligible companies are chosen for inclusion on the final published list.

“We are incredibly honored to be named the number one Military Friendly Employer for the second year in a row,” said Combined Insurance President Brad Bennett. “We believe in our veterans and the value they bring to our company. And, we will continue our commitment to hiring and developing our nation’s military servicemen and women. Veterans are an integral part of building our organization—now and in the future.”

Since launching the veteran recruiting program in mid-2010, Combined Insurance has hired more than 2,500 veterans and those with a military background, and plans to hire 2,800 more over the next two years. In 2014 alone, 42 percent of Combined Insurance’s new hires were veterans or had military backgrounds. So far this year, more than one-third of the company’s new hires are veterans or those with military backgrounds. As part of its overall hiring strategy, Combined Insurance is seeking veterans to fill a variety of positions, including sales agents, territory managers, market directors, and administrative and corporate staff positions.

Art Kandarian, retired U.S. Army Colonel, is the Senior Vice President of Business Development, leading military markets, for Combined Insurance. Kandarian states: “Our strong commitment to veterans is based on a holistic approach—focused hiring, training, onboarding, ongoing development, leadership, mentoring, and community involvement.” He adds, “Teamwork, commitment, and mission-focus are a strong part of our veteran employee value proposition. We aim to provide veterans meaningful employment opportunities, training, and the support that they need to be successful.”

In addition to its focus on creating a holistic, high quality veteran employment experience, Combined Insurance gives back in both time and money to several veteran charities. Combined Insurance is a proud supporter of Luke’s Wings, the Fisher House Foundation, Snowball Express, and the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation—giving sizeable donations to those organizations in 2015. Combined Insurance employees have also engaged in several volunteer activities at V.A. hospitals in the Chicagoland area.

Combined Insurance has an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau, and an A+ (Superior) financial strength rating by A.M. Best, one of the world’s top insurance rating firms. The company is also identified as a leading provider of supplemental insurance on Ward’s 50® Top Performing Health-Life Insurance Companies list—a list that has recognized Combined Insurance for six consecutive years.
