Combined Insurance Continues its Commitment to Giving Back with Global Day of Service
More than 100 employee volunteers serve two Chicagoland charities

GLENVIEW, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Combined Insurance, an ACE Group company, participated in ACE’s Global Day of Service on October 23 at two Chicagoland organizations—Northern Illinois Food Bank and Casa Central. ACE Group employees around the globe participated in this initiative to take time to engage in community service projects in the communities in which they live and work. As an ACE Group company, Combined Insurance showed their support with 110 Chicago area employees actively volunteering that day.

“We are tremendously proud of our Combined Insurance and ACE employees for their volunteer efforts and just as proud that the ACE organization has made it a corporate priority to give back to our communities,” said Melanie Lundberg, AVP Talent Management and Corporate Communications at Combined Insurance. “Our Combined Insurance founder, W. Clement Stone, believed in ‘making the world a better place,’ and we aim to continue that commitment through our active employee volunteerism and our charitable donations.”

The community service initiative involved more than 6,000 ACE employees in 50 countries who participated in approximately 250 volunteer projects. It is a tradition that dates back to 2005 when ACE organized its first Day of Service. In 2010, it became a worldwide program with the launch of the ACE Global Day of Service, when thousands of employees volunteered for various group projects.

Lundberg led a team of more than 40 employee volunteers at Northern Illinois Food Bank, an organization dedicated to solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need through innovative programs and partnerships. The group successfully sorted and packed 14,643 pounds of food, providing 11,714 meals for hungry neighbors in northern Illinois.

An additional 70 employees volunteered at Casa Central, the largest Hispanic social service agency in Chicago. Combined Insurance volunteers completed five painting projects, which included three apartments at La Posada Interim Housing Program—the program seeks to place families in their own independent and permanent housing.

“La Posada depends heavily on the dedicated volunteers that help beautify our facilities. If it wasn’t for the generous support we receive from volunteer groups, such as Combined Insurance and others, it would not be possible for us to provide clean and comfortable residential units for the families we serve,” said Millie Hernandez, Program Director, La Posada. “The volunteer work from Combined Insurance has allowed us to help achieve our goal of providing quality services to families in our community.”

Combined Insurance has a tradition of success in the insurance industry dating back more than 90 years. Founded in 1922 by W. Clement Stone, the company honors his commitment of giving back with volunteer efforts and donations to charitable organizations throughout the year, such as Luke’s Wings, the Fisher House, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. In addition, Combined Insurance is ranked in the top five companies leading the way in fundraising for the 2015 ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ walk for the American Cancer Society.
