Combined Insurance Builds Military Veteran-Led Sales Territories and Markets

GLENVIEW, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accidentdisabilityhealth and life insurance products, and an ACE Group company, continues its commitment to hiring our nation’s military servicemen and women with the launch of its veteran-led sales territory and market development initiative.

The new initiative will focus Combined Insurance’s military veteran and spouse hiring and sales efforts around U.S. military installations where there are high populations of military veterans and families. This will enable the company to target and recruit qualified individuals with military backgrounds for leadership positions. Those market leaders will then hire military veteran territory leaders who will then create teams of veteran and spouse sales agents to serve individuals, families and veteran-owned businesses in the communities around the installations.

“We know that many veterans have great leadership skills,” said Art Kandarian, retired U.S. Army Colonel and vice president of sales and military markets, Combined Insurance. “This initiative will give some of our new military hires the opportunity to report to a leader with military experience, which is important to them and helps to make their transition into the civilian workforce easier. It’s a win for them and a win for us. Combined Insurance gets dedicated, hard-working leaders, and they get a meaningful career with military camaraderie.”

Combined Insurance has already hired veteran leaders to build and lead territory sales teams in Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Hood, Texas; Baltimore, Md.; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Portland, Ore. The company also recently hired its first veteran to lead and build a military market in San Antonio, Texas. The company expects to expand the initiative to include two military-led markets and 12 veteran-led territories by the end of 2015.

“This initiative is well aligned with the company’s multi-year sales force growth initiative and further demonstrates our commitment to hire veterans and support military communities,” added Kandarian. “We’re focused on seeking veterans who want to build and lead teams, and we are already beginning to see very solid progress.”

For more than four years, Combined Insurance has been dedicated to helping our nation’s military veterans find meaningful employment as they transition back into their civilian lives. Through its recruiting program, the company has hired more than 2,000 veterans to date, many of whom have made valuable contributions to the company and built successful careers and financially stable lives for themselves and their families. In 2014 alone, 42 percent of Combined Insurance’s new hires had military backgrounds.

In January of 2014, Combined Insurance announced its commitment to hire 4,000 military veterans and spouses by the end of 2016 as part of a multi-year overall sales force growth initiative. This year, Combined Insurance has hired more than 565 new sales agents and managers with military backgrounds, representing 34 percent of the company’s total new hires.

Recently, Combined Insurance was recognized as number one on Victory Media’s (publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine) 2015 list of Top 100 Military Friendly® Employers. This was the company’s fourth consecutive year on the list, the third time in the top 10 and its first time as number one.

The Top 100 Military Friendly Employers list represents the top two percent of the more than 5,000 eligible competing companies with strong military recruitment programs and meaningful job opportunities for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment.
