ACE USA’s Jon Peeples and ESIS’ Frank Westfall to participate in a Panel Session on Hazard Communication Standard 2013: A Transition Guide for Educators at the URMIA 2013 Annual Conference

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The ACE Group today announced Jon Peeples, Vice President, ACE Environmental Risk and Frank Westfall, Vice President, ESIS, Inc., Health Safety and Environmental Services, will participate in a session with Paul Fox, Risk Manager, of Texas Christian University, discussing updates and recommendations on how to implement the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. This session will take place at the annual University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA) Conference to be held in Phoenix, AZ, on October 16, 2013.

Commenting on the opportunity, Mr. Peeples said, “Recently, there have been changes to the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard to harmonize it with provisions of the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS). Although some employers have already adopted the GHS to increase workers’ understanding of potential safety hazards, this practice will now be enforced. I’m pleased to be able to participate in this session and provide useful information to higher education risk managers on the potential risks and exposures that exist as their organizations operate under the revised Standard.”

Mr. Westfall added, “This presentation will help higher education risk managers identify major changes in the Standard, including the requirement for staff training on the revised Standard, and will also explore potential liability changes relative to health and safety on campuses. At the conclusion of the presentation, we hope that participants will be able to efficiently transition the requirements of the new OSHA Hazard Communication Standard into their areas of responsibility with a goal of better managing compliance with the Standard and their future risks.”

In addition to Mr. Peeples and Mr. Westfall’s session participation at the event, ACE will be sponsoring the awards luncheon at the conference on Monday, October 14 from 11:50 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Central Time.
