ACE USA Appoints Paul Cunney to Lead Public Entity Practice

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of the ACE Group, today announced that Paul Cunney has been appointed Vice President and Practice Leader for ACE USA’s Public Entity industry practice. In this role, Mr. Cunney will oversee ACE’s coordinated offerings for federal, state, county, and municipal governments, agencies and authorities, as well as the public education sector.

ACE’s Public Entity Practice offers a comprehensive suite of coverages, including general liability, primary auto, excess liability, public officials’ liability, school board legal liability, miscellaneous professional liability, and environmental liability. In addition, the group offers companion products, on an individual risk basis, including construction wrap up, builders risk, multinational casualty, and accident & health.

Mr. Cunney will be based in Jersey City, N.J., and will report to Mitchell Schmidt, Senior Vice President and National Manager of ACE USA’s Custom Casualty unit.

“ACE’s Public Entity practice brings together a broad array of critical coverages addressing the varied risks of public entities,” said Mr. Schmidt. “ACE is committed to expanding our risk appetite, and offering broadened coverages through this integrated practice. Paul’s industry experience and proven leadership abilities will be a great asset to our plans for continued growth in this important segment.”

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work with the specialized team of underwriters and insurance professionals that comprise ACE USA’s Public Entity Practice, and to build upon the broad range of products and services we offer to meet the unique needs of the public entity arena.” said Mr. Cunney. “Our recent launch of the enhanced Public Entity Liability policy -- combining general liability and auto liability with the benefits of public officials liability and employment practices liability in a single insurance solution -- is an example of the quality of product enhancements we seek to provide our policyholders.”

With nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, Mr. Cunney joined ACE in January 2005, and most recently served as Vice President and National Product Manager for ACE USA’s Public Officials and School Leaders, and Errors & Omissions (E&O) products.
