Combined Insurance Continues to Give Back to Chicagoland and National Charitable Organizations in 2016

GLENVIEW, Ill., Dec. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health, and life insurance products, and a Chubb company, continues to honor its founder's legacy by giving back year-round. Founded by W. Clement Stone in 1922, the charitable endeavors by the company continue to build off Stone's tradition and legacy of "making the world a better place."

This year, Combined Insurance gave back to nearly 15 Chicago-based and national charitable organizations including the American Cancer Society, USO of Illinois, Luke's Wings, Hines Fisher House, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The company hosts at least two employee volunteer opportunities per quarter and supports employees who volunteer and/or fundraise in their own time.

In early 2016, Combined Insurance demonstrated its continued commitment to supporting U.S. military servicemen and women by announcing donations totaling $50,000 to two military-related charitable organizations—Luke's Wings and the USO of Illinois. Combined Insurance employees further supported the USO in the fall, when they helped serve meals to more than 350 military personnel at the USO Great Lakes Center in Great Lakes, IL.

"Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is a core element of our company culture at Combined Insurance," said Melanie Lundberg, AVP Talent Management and Corporate Communications. "We continue to honor our company's philanthropic legacy through our active employee volunteerism and corporate donations. Our focus on community involvement ensures our employees at Combined feel like they are making a difference."

As a philanthropist himself, Combined Insurance's founder, W. Clement Stone, donated more than $275 million to civic groups, mental health, and other charitable organizations during his lifetime.

New Charitable Partnerships in 2016
In April, the company demonstrated its continued commitment to support U.S. military servicemen and women by announcing a new partnership with the Jason McKie Foundation, a Chicago-based charitable organization that works to raise awareness and provide emergency support for military families. Recently, the Foundation provided comfort kits and food as part of "Operation Care Package" for Army Troops currently serving in Kuwait and Afghanistan.

And, at the Combined Insurance Annual Golf Outing, proceeds from the event went directly to the Jason McKie Foundation—a donation of nearly $24,000.

Another new partnership for the company this year is Heartland Alliance—a national organization dedicated to ending poverty. Diana Small, Vice President, Strategic Programs Office at Combined Insurance, currently serves on the Women's Board for Heartland Alliance and has given back to the organization for several years. She introduced Combined Insurance to their programs and specifically the SSVF Program—Supportive Services for Veteran Families that focuses on ending homelessness among veterans.

This holiday season, employees sponsored 100 stockings filled with household, cold weather, and other items to benefit Heartland Alliance's SSVF Program. The stockings are donated to veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Chicago and surrounding areas.
